What Is The Best Medicine For Abortion?

Good morning Doctor. I am a 25 year old, married lady. I wanted to know if it is safe to have an abortion? I got my last period on Dec 27th and went to the doctor few days back. The urine test showed it as postive. The blood test showed Total HCG as 15046 IU/L. Could you please let me know if I could know the exact number of weeks of my pregnancy? I haven't done a scan till now. Could you please let me know if it is safe to have an abortion at this stage?

Thanks

Hello dear
Understand your concern
Safe abortion should be done up to 9 week of intrauterine pregnancy under observation of gynecologist. So yes you have to go for USG scan first to find out the exact gestational age and nature of pregnancy (intrauterine) also confirmed by it. Tabet Mifepristone 600 mg orally to be followed after 24 hours by Tab. Misoprostol 800 ug vaginally/orally every 4-6 hours up to 3 doses. Bleeding and abdominal cramp will start after 1-2 hour after last pill and last for 5-7 days.
Do not use this treatment by self medication as it cause serious complication like excessive bleeding , failure of treatment/incomplete abortion, abnormal continuation of pregnancy, infections.
Follow up USG after 14 days to confirm incomplete abortion.
Proper rest, maintain pelvic hygiene, analgesic, healthy diet with iron supplements should be advisable after abortion. Choose your contraception method.
Abortion is safe if it is done under proper guidance and observation
Hope this may help you
Best regards
